"Drinking from the Wells of Salvation" - Isaiah 12:3

You may watch this Newsletter in a video HERE.

Isaiah 12:3
Therefore, with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation.

NKJV

Introduction:

The wells of salvation have many facets. We are to draw from the wells our redemption, draw our healing and wholeness, draw our deliverance, draw our power to continue our tasks in Him, draw our peace in troubled times, draw our courage to battle for truth, draw our living water and find there an incessant supply.

My God, the dry pulpits of our nations need to find new anointing by drawing from these wells of salvation! Instead of a dehydrated body of believers there would be streams of living water flowing out of their bellies. Lost humanity would rush to drink of these living waters rather than shrinking from the gospel!

Deep within these wells is a sure promise of refreshing.

Salvation:
OT:3444 yeshuw`ah (yesh-oo'-aw); feminine passive participle of OT:3467; something saved, i.e. (abstractly) deliverance; hence, aid, victory, prosperity:
KJV - deliverance, health, help (-ing), salvation, save, saving (health), welfare.

The promise given the woman at the well was the gift of living water welling up inside. Jesus gave her one of the greatest theological passages in the New Testament. Such is the way of the well. She wanted to draw from this living water so she would never thirst again. Is this not what happens when people thirst for righteousness? They get revelation; they get answers; they get forgiveness instead of condemnation; they get acceptance at a level they never thought possible. Those who possesses the living water gush forth prophetic answers, unknown by any other means. Wherever that water touches, there is life and growth and expansion of hope.

My God, that is what must flow into the congregations of the world. Baptismal waters may seal the covenant made in redemption. Its water testifies of cleansing and salvation. But there is more to it than outward symbols, there has to be a living fountain running inside.

The most essential element of ministry is the presence of the living water.

Oh, missionary, draw deep from this well. If you go dry and lose your anointing, what you give will be tasteless and have no power. Yes, you are called on to give and never stop giving, but the living water is an endless supply and it is for you and must be drawn.

The rivers of Arbana and Pharpar were good enough water sources for a lost world, but healing only came when the Jordan (its source was different) was bathed in. Oh! I tell you today the church has been offering distant abstractions to thirsty souls, but there is only one source with the promise of cleansing and healing.

Yes, there were wells in Egypt and wells in the promised land, but there had to be wells in between or the people would perish. Moses struck the rock and provision came forth. It is high time to strike the Rock of our salvation and drink deep from His supply.

Numbers 21:16-18:
From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the Lord said to Moses, "Gather the people together, and I will give them water." 17 Then Israel sang this song:
"Spring up, O well!
All of you sing to it -
18 The well the leaders sank,
Dug by the nation's nobles,
By the lawgiver, with their staves."
NKJV

That song must be heard again in order for the anointing to take its place among us. Faith-filled men and women of God have found that supply to be more than ample in the past. Their testimony in song, books, preachments and conduct of life place them in the great cloud of witness to this truth. Spring up, O' well and flow into our lives as we consider their labors and legacies. Draw from the wells they offer to our souls. Their waters must flow into us and from us to a thirsty world around us.

Outside Brasov, Romania, in 1994, I stood before a congregation during the dedication of a church building for the Gypsies. It was packed. No one knew me as a man of God with an anointing on my life. When those on the program finished their presentations, the pastor pointed to me and said, "would you testify." When I stood, the anointing began to flow out. The Spirit of God took over and I preached, "Out of your belly will flow rivers of living waters." The atmosphere changed as the Lord gave a prophetic word, "You will experience such a revival within your people that it will affect nations and you will be used of God throughout Europe as vessels of living waters for a society who has lost their way!"

That service melted into tears and praise and lasted several hours past the appointed times. Drawing from the well of salvation is like that-it causes those who drink deep from it to throw away religious schooling and embrace the living source of that supply. Forget the time; forget the place; forget inhibitions or the "proper" way.

I tell you this must be the order of the day if America is to survive the tribulations coming down upon it. Rotten politics, unjust judges and radical groups have sought to cover up the wells dug by our forefathers. Jacob experienced it - he knew the unfairness of the enemies claims, but one day he found a pure fountain that was deep and met his needs, a place where God was. Oh, that the pulpiteers would point the way - would that they would stand against the intrusion of those who would seek to destroy and ruin the inheritances of the saints. They need to clear the way for a new day in the Spirit.

Alas, the problem lies in the fact they know not the highway of holiness, neither do they know the wells of salvation, nor have they sought to know its place in their life.

In Genesis 24:13 a well became the fleece in a search for Isaac's wife. Rebecca fulfilled that demand by answering correctly. The problem today is that we are making decisions without the will of the well.

Genesis 24:42-47:
42 "And this day I came to the well and said, 'O Lord God of my master Abraham, if You will now prosper the way in which I go, 43 behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass that when the virgin comes out to draw water, and I say to her, "Please give me a little water from your pitcher to drink," 44 and she says to me, "Drink, and I will draw for your camels also," - let her be the woman whom the Lord has appointed for my master's son.'

45 "But before I had finished speaking in my heart, there was Rebekah, coming out with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down to the well and drew water. And I said to her, 'Please let me drink.' 46 And she made haste and let her pitcher down from her shoulder, and said, 'Drink, and I will give your camels a drink also.' So, I drank, and she gave the camels a drink also."

There's a longing in my heart to see God's people drink from the wells of salvation, to know their refreshing and wonderful supply. David stood as an example of longing for a drink from the waters of God.

2 Samuel 23:15-17:
And David said with longing, "Oh, that someone would give me a drink of the water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!" 16 So the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, drew water from the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless, he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord. 17 And he said, "Far be it from me, O Lord, that I should do this! Is this not the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?" Therefore, he would not drink it.
NKJV

David's son, Solomon, described His beloved in the Song of Solomon as one who had a fountain "shut up" that only He would open in order to water the garden of her heart as well as all others who should drink from her supply.

Song 4:12:
A garden enclosed
Is my sister, my spouse,
A spring shut up,
A fountain sealed…

Song 4:15:
15 A fountain of gardens,
A well of living waters,
And streams from Lebanon.
NKJV

When the well spring of her heart began to function as it should, He could invite others to savor its supply. The problem today is that we want Jesus to send people to us when our well has been sealed.

Within the Shulamite their came a ministry which could not have happened any other way. Our cry should be, "Let the waters flow!" Look! He invited his friends and glowingly invited them to drink freely from her well.

Song 5:1:
Eat, O friends!
Drink, yes, drink deeply,
O beloved ones!

As His bride are we not to have this fountain in the garden of our hearts? The world has had enough of the cesspools of society; it desperately needs a church where resources spring from Jesus! They need to taste the pure water!

The congregations must have a supply that the Spirit can use to lead those who are seeking salvation, healing and deliverance.

The prophet Jeremiah addressed Jerusalem in terms that could describe most cities of the world. He spoke in judgement and pointed to the well from which the constituents drank. They already knew the prophetic words of Isaiah 12:3 and chose to imbibe from a polluted resource that offered no solace. I am convinced we, as the church, have been drinking from the wrong well.

Jeremiah 6:6-8:
For thus has the Lord of hosts said:

"Cut down trees,
And build a mound against Jerusalem.
This is the city to be punished.
She is full of oppression in her midst.
7 As a fountain wells up with water,
So she wells up with her wickedness
.
Violence and plundering are heard in her.
Before Me continually are grief and wounds.
8 Be instructed, O Jerusalem,
Lest My soul depart from you;
Lest I make you desolate,
A land not inhabited."
NKJV

Simon Peter described a similar religious culture and the role of their deceiving false teachers (in his epistle of Second Peter). I sincerely believe these kinds of deceivers are among us now!. Never has a description fit so many instances as today.

2 Peter 2:12-22:

12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet.

17 These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."

Proverbs describes the resources from which these wells derived their supply.

Proverbs 25:26:
A righteous man who falters before the wicked
Is like a murky spring and a polluted well.
NKJV

According to Isaiah, the deep wells of salvation have certain confessions that must come forth both before and after this truth.

Isaiah 12:1-3:
And in that day, you will say:

"O Lord, I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
'For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.'"

3 Therefore with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation.
NKJV

Oh, the knowledge that His anger is turned away and His comforting words and arms surround me is a truth to be relished. I confess right now, "God is my salvation-I will trust and not be afraid. He is my strength and song."

After that confession, verse three begins with "Therefore" which signals that incorporated in this word is every thing said before it! Because of what we have committed to Him up to this point, we can now freely draw from the wells. "Therefore, with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation."

God, our salvation, will always meet you at this well, no matter how many times you come.

John Piper drew three conclusions from this fact in his treatise given before the Fergus Falls Missions Conference.

1.Preaching that springs up from drinking at the wells of salvation is missionary preaching. He points out that the verses following verse 3 are directed to "the peoples" of the earth." Such preaching motivates the missionary to reach The Peoples.
Isaiah 12:4:
"Praise the Lord, call upon His name;
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted.
NKJV

2. Preaching that springs up from drinking at the wells of salvation is God-exalting preaching.
Isaiah 12:4:
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted.

3. Preaching that springs up from drinking from the wells of salvation is worship-producing preaching.
Isaiah 12:5-6:
Sing to the Lord,
For He has done excellent things;
This is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!"
NKJV

There is more! There is a confession that follows the drawing.

Isaiah 12:4-6:
And in that day, you will say:
"Praise the Lord, call upon His name;
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted.
5 Sing to the Lord,
For He has done excellent things;
This is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!"

Parched hearts are those who have lost their understanding of how great our God is. The wells of salvation restore faith in the mightiness of God to the hearts of His people.

On the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the Jews custom was to bring water in a golden pitcher from the fountain of Siloam, and pour it, mingled with wine, on the sacrifice on the altar with great rejoicing.

Worship services would be greatly different if the rejoicing crowds had a drink from the wells of salvation!

As Elim was to those in the desert, the pool of clear water with the shade of seventy palms becomes an oasis of refreshing. Our churches ought to be such an oasis!

Exodus 15:27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

This verse is prophetic. Threescore (60) and ten (10) is 70. There are 12 wells of water and 70 palm trees. Now we have discovered that the wells of salvation are symbolic of His disciples, those who have drunk of the water of the Spirit (John 7:37-39). Water is also symbolic of the Word because the Word is Spirit (John 6:63). The 12 wells are prophetic, first of all, of the 12 disciples (apostles). They were wells of water. When did the water of life begin flowing through them? The water only flowed through Jesus Christ during the days of the Gospels. He was the well of salvation. The disciples were drinkers; they were learning. The miracles and other wonders that Jesus did weren't the primary concern of Jesus. His main objective was preparing the disciples for the continuation of His ministry. They were becoming wells of salvation, and the water of life began flowing through them on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).

What about the 70 palm trees? Luke chapter ten tells about the 70 disciples Jesus sent out to minister before His face into every city and place, where He himself would come (verse 1). Their ministry was unique. It was prophetic of a ministry that was to take place in the last days, a ministry of preparation for the parousia of the Lord.

Drink deep, drink often, drink until you can hold no more and realize that we must become wells of living water for this untoward generation.

Until Next month,

Dr. Cosby R. Oliver, PhD.

MISSIONS REPORT:

From Harvest International, Inc. - Patton & Mary Lynn Franks:

Greeting in Jesus name! I trust this finds you well and blessed

Thank you so much for the offering! It was on my desk when I returned home. Also, the books just arrived and I am very excited to look them over. They appear fascinating. I will be taking them out with me as we leave toward the middle of August for a couple of more weeks on the road. Am I correct in assuming both are available in Spanish? I believe they will be a blessing to our students in Cuba.

It was wonderful to get acquainted with you both and have a little fellowship. It seems "little" is the operative word around those conferences, nevertheless, it was an honor and we look forward to following up soon! God bless you both and thanks again for the offering and the books. I will look for some appropriate photos to send as soon as possible.

Harvest Partners had a tremendous impact in Cuba in July. The youth campers enjoyed new dormitories and kitchen facilities, wonderful fellowship and powerful services thanks to your generosity. We were able to supply food and other necessities to over 100 pastors' families and shoes for two dozen pastors with a contract for another two dozen as soon as the materials can be obtained and the labor accomplished. We continue to work towards an emergency supply of food (for the warehouse) for a specially difficult times but because things are already so difficult it is a challenge to put anything back! But, we are working on it. As a side note to our distribution, a brother was able to locate enough eggs to give 3 per family member to the Pastors. The excitement three eggs can bring is not generally appreciated by people living in a free capitalist society. Let us pray our country remains free!

Please, keep us in prayer as we plan for what we believe will be a very impactful effort in Cuba in October.

Thank you and God bless you!

Sincerely,

Patton Franks

Pastor Gatahun with his pastors and leaders of the Emmanuel United Church in Ethiopia that Herman Hinnsbeeck of Africa Missions trained for personal evangelism.

We have been busy in Ethiopia spreading the Gospel! Herman Hinnsbeeck of Africa Missions trained 50 pastors for the Emmanuel United Church in Ethiopia in April 2018.

The president of this organization, Pastor Getahun, was dubious about the effectiveness of our evangelism course in his particular field of labour. He suggested that they first launch two pilot projects to test the effectiveness thereof. The results were astounding. The Gospel was presented to 12,000. Of that number 2,000 people received Jesus in the last year.

Today, President Getahun is firmly behind this programme. It is our God-ordained privilege to empower the remaining 400 local churches to grow themselves and see the Lord of the harvest bringing in the sheaves. A further 50 pastors were trained in June.

At the end of July, Ron Kinnear and Herman Hinsbeeck had lunch with President Getahun and his Director of Evangelism. They were enthusiastic about rolling out this programme in their organization. Plans were discussed on how the remaining churches would be empowered to grow themselves.

It is a joy and privilege to partner with leaders who have faith and vision for the Lord's work. They also contributed towards the training that took place in June. When we started our journey with the Emmanuel United Church, they had 400 local churches in their group. During the past year, this figure has grown to 450!

We are moving closer to our dream of making 500,000 converts in the Oromia Province during the course of the next 10 years!

God has opened a great window of opportunity in Ethiopia to reach an unreached people group! The success of our initial one-on-one outreach ministry has made us realize that this particular field was ripe and ready for the harvest.

Praise & Prayer Needs:

  • "Please pray for Ron as he addresses the General Assembly of the Ethiopian Geunet Church. During the time of 8-11 of August, the agreement between that body and Africa Missions will be signed that forms to a partnership of winning 500,000 unreached people in Ethiopia in the next ten years!

  • "Praise report: Trevor and Rochelle Naidoo received their work permit for Thailand! (Pictured below on the bottom row on the far right.)

After Pastor Ron and Sister Rina Kinnear of Africa Missions, hreadquarters located in Pretoria, SA, were in the US for a time last fall, the invitation came to Tommy and Chena Meche to come to S. Africa for a tour of some of the missions and preaching stations that have been raised up by graduates of the Bible College pioneered by Ron Kinnear. They were able to accomplish this trip and according to Pastor Ron Kinnear, "They did what few ever do when they visit our work-they ministered life and the LOVE of Jesus by listening to and crying with every individual they ministered to one on one. They really blended with us and just did all they could to assist our work while here."

An open invitation resulted.

Chena said, "I became a mother confessor to many. They opened their lives up to me and let it all 'hang out' and many spiritual battles ended right there in powerful intercession and deliverance."

Tommy commented on salvations and healings, and baptism of the Holy Ghost that took place while ministering in the mining towns of Mooi Nooi, Mmaditlhowa, Marikana and also Shusanguve.

"One young man came in on crutches and after hands being laid on him, he got up and walked all over the area! Praise the Lord."

Here are a few pictures taken during times of ministry.

Greetings from Guatemala.....and the uttermost parts of the earth! It has been a busy but fruitful season here in Guatemala and at Flames of Fire. We earnestly thank you for standing with us daily in prayer and for all that you sacrifice and do for us to be able to do all that we do. We want you to know that we call your names out to God and ask that He meet every need, that He keep you safe and that He would bless you. So, this is your fruit, you had a part in all of this! We say it all the time, but you are the best partners in the world.

Blessings, Larry & Marla

100 Give their hearts to Christ through outreach!

Gainesville Church of God impacts Guatemala with multifaceted team!

We have had an amazing month! The month of July brought an amazing team that comes down every year. A team of almost 50 overwhelming, sold out, servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This team was divided into 4 district groups.

The Construction Team that built 4 houses in 4 days! They bring help to people who live in stick huts and sleep on dirt floors, this amazing team works in the rain and sun cranking out a brand new house everyday for a family in need! This changes their lives forever!

The Ministry Team served all day-often in the sun, did I mention ALL DAY LONG!?! They did VBS type ministry to the children. There were bubbles, puppets, coloring, crafts, lots of smiles, hugs , love and of course candy! They told Bible stories and shared the love of Christ to over 400 children, and 60 of them gave their hearts to Christ.

The Dental Team works long hours treating people that could never afford to get treatment. Often their teeth were cavitied all the way down to the gum line requiring much work to extract. One of the dentists worked until she almost passed out! And wanted to keep going! They saw over 400 patients and made 100 extractions.

The Medical Team which also includes the amazing pharmacy crew saw 500 patients , half of those were very sick children. The villagers have no access to medical care. There are medical clinics sometimes in some villages but if you have no way to buy medicine it does no good! We passed out meds free along with the free clinic. The medical and dental professionals who sacrificed to give care to the helpless are amazing, they don't even get a breather between patients! We seat the next patient when the one gets up! Their interpreters are amazing working right along side them all day in the heat with no fans! Now that means that pharmacy has to work very hard, but these guys have such love they pack pills and make labels in a language that requires so much effort!

Thanks to the local churches who were in charge of evangelism, every single person heard the gospel and was prayed for and ministered to! In all, over 100 people gave their hearts to Christ this week, and together the teams ministered to over 1,000 people! Wow!!!

Please pray for us as we head to Kenya and Tanzania

Dedicating 6 Churches in Kenya and Tanzania

But it's time to shift gears and continents! We are headed out to Africa! Kenya here we come! We will be traveling with our senior pastors Albert & Monica Hale, and Portia Sharp. We will be dedicating 6 new churches, some in Kenya and some in Tanzania! We will also be helping with 2 pastors' conferences.

Bush Bible School in a brand new region! Over 3000 people impacted by the first school!

Larry and I will be going down ahead of the team so that we can scout facilities for the next Bush Bible School.

We are exceptionally thrilled with how the first group has proceeded forward with the teaching that they received. So many of you sowed into them and we want to give you an update! We went down and trained 20 men and women, they have in turn taken the teaching and have duplicated the school 5 times!

You helped us do that! Think about the impact ... 6 groups of 20 students taking this back to their churches and villages has a minimum potential of impacting over 3000 people. 120 students! 120 villages! If each church only has 25 people that is a potential of 3000 people! Many of the churches have much more than 25!

We will be holding another training session this coming spring, so while we are in Kenya we will be scouting possible facilities. Please pray for divine connections. While you are praying, you could also add finances for this trip to the list of prayer needs. God always shows up on time but we are still in need of funds. We leave on Saturday, yes, this coming Saturday August 24! We are so excited to see what God will do while we are there! We will be there almost 3 weeks. While we are gone Mundo and Wendy are keeping everything running smoothly at the feeding centers and ministry center. We ask that you pray for them as well.
